‘Inclusion is a belief system. It begins with the belief that every child has strengths to build upon, interests to share and experiences to honour’
The Inclusive Classroom
At Barnburgh Primary Academy, ALL children are welcomed and supported to reach their full potential. We work hard to create a culture that celebrates diversity and builds on the strengths of each child. We identify barriers to learning in three areas, including welfare, health and SEND.
Special Education Needs and Disabilities and Inclusion
Through quality first teaching, our goal is for each child to achieve their best, no matter what their starting point. We know that at some time in their education, children may need additional support to do this. We offer support and a high level of challenge and our children are continually encouraged to reflect on their own learning and are supported to set targets for improvement. All pupils have full access to the curriculum and the school has good support from a wide range of outside agencies, including Educational Psychology, Children’s Services, Doncaster School Nursing Team, Hearing Impairment Support Team, Visual Impairment Support Team, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Autism and Social Communication Education Team, Health Visitors, other settings etc.
Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) is Miss Yates.
Our Inclusion manager is Mrs Simpkin.
Disability and Accessibility
The school has a policy in line with national recommendations. The school continues to develop provision in line with the Disability Equality Duty for schools.
